The Chiefs are only 10-1 to win the AFC West though they are long shots in NFL football betting to win the Super Bowl at probabilities of 125-1.
The Chiefs may be enormously greater this season when you bet on the NFL and they may start to exhibit it when they start off the preseason in Atlanta on August 13th. The Kansas City Chiefs may be worth a bet since they will be underdogs in NFL preseason probabilities in that starter.
NFL preseason betting on the Kansas City Chiefs goes on in Week 2 as they are in Tampa Bay. The Chiefs final two preseason matches are at home as they host Philadelphia and Green Bay. The Chiefs have been actually poor the past 3 seasons going 10-38 but there’s real optimism in Kansas City that things can change this season. 2010 might be different despite the fact that the first year under new general manager Scott Pioli and head coach Todd Haley didn’t go well in 2009.
The Chiefs are directed on offense by running back Jamaal Charles and Matt Cassel. Last season the Chiefs could not actually get their offense untracked so they introduced Charlie Weis in the off-season to take control. Romeo Crennel as also brought in by the squad to handle the defense. Crennel was chose by the Chiefs in January of this year, replacing Clancy Pendergast as the squad’s defensive coordinator.
The Chiefs included running back Thomas Jones in the off-season and he gives them a great option together with Charles in the backfield. In the draft they picked up Dexter McCluster who could be dangerous on 3rd downs. They re-signed Chris Chambers in the off-season so they have a fine receiving alternative. Kansas City’s offense undoubtedly has potential.
Jones was drafted seventh in total in the 2000 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. He has performed for the Chicago Bears, the New York Jets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He signed a 2 year agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs after he was released by the Jets in March of 2010. McCluster was a second round draft pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2010 NFL Draft. He played for the Ole Miss Rebels at the University of Mississippi. He is the newest wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs.
The problem for Kansas City is the defense. Even so they got Eric Berry with the 5th total pick and he will support the team but there are other issues. The Chiefs have not gotten much from Glenn Dorsey or Tyson Jackson. Both players have been disappointments thus far despite being high draft picks. The secondary is poor and the linebackers for Kansas City are just average. If the defense is to be improved, it will likely be up to Berry to meet his superstar potential.
The AFC West is a division that everybody is handing to the Chargers in NFL preseason probabilities, yet San Diego has vulnerable spots. If things actually bond for the Chiefs this year it is not out of the question for them to be a huge surprise.
